MBABANE– Teaching Service Commission (TSC) Commissioner Dr. Amos Mahlalela has announced contract renewals for 1 231 teachers.
Mahlalela said teachers who graduated in 2018 would be prioritised for primary schools, while high school renewals would be based on the demand of subject specialisation needs of the respective schools.
He was speaking during a press conference in the Ministry of Education and Training offices, held earlier today.
He said 1 231 teachers will have their contracts renewed. Mahlalela said government the Cabinet approved contract renewals for 1 231 teachers.
When delivering her back-to-school statement about a fortnight ago, the Minister of Education and Training, Lady Mabuza, hinted that government had approved the hiring of teachers on contract basis.
The minister said the number of contracts to be renewed were 1 500. However, the actual number has now been revealed to be 1 231 contracts that would be renewed.
