MBABANE– “I cannot stress this enough but good Lord; I cannot believe you enjoy my music. The song Sunday has reached 10 000 streams on Spotify Africa,”

The above were rapper Oriiginelle’s exact sentiments when reacting to news of her recently released single ‘Sunday’ hitting over 10 000 streams on Spotify Africa.

This comes shortly after the rapper, who has been hailed by Silkour and The Game as the best, got an increased number of listeners on her Spotify account. She said all this was God’s work.

“Thank you so much for always showing love and supporting me on this journey,” said the rapper whose real name is Makhosazana Thwala.

When the song ‘Sunday’ was released late last year it made history by being the longest-charting song on the Eswatini Broadcasting Services (EBIS) Top 20.

It stayed charting for a good 14 weeks, to this Originelle said, she is forever grateful for her fans and followers.

“You guys seem to enjoy my toxicity in my projects and I’m forever humbled by that,” she said at the time.

There is no guessing why the song is sitting on over 10 000 streams as it has been described, by many as a masterpiece.

The song is a scenic trip of melodies and ‘trippy’ percussions laced in suave lyrics and ambiance that is bound to get you in your ‘feels’.

The mix of vocals in symbiosis with the beat further attests to Oriiginelle’s evolution from ‘rapper’ to artist, which she beautifully captured on Sunday.

The contents of the song express Oriiginelle’s need for an intimate relationship, however, this she cannot achieve due to weekly commitments which compromise the nature of the said relationship.

Besides the weekends, this would mean rearranging her schedule to allow her to indulge in romance and intimacy.

Originelle proceeds to mention how she copes with such conditions by having cornered herself into casual relationships, eliminating the commitment of having to make time for someone. “I gotta drop her at her place and shake it all off to start the week on a clean slate,” she sings.

The song was produced by Bophelo ‘SoduhBeats’ Letsika and mixed and mastered by LOSOUNDZ. Originelle also collaborated with photographer Ayanda ‘Ayo Captured’ Mkhabela who took amazing pictures for their rollout and artwork. This was well complemented by Sigcino Mwelase’s keen eye for detail through creative direction.

In addition to everything when explaining her 2023 plans she said, new music was on the cards and new bigger projects were coming.

“I think my word for 2023 will be ‘gratitude’ because I missed out on so many great moments due to wanting to achieve so much.

“I did not get to bask in my glory. 2022 was very busy but I only got through it all thanks to my team! Planning things out at the start of 2022 really did save us because in as much as we got thrown into the deep end from time to time, we had already.” She said.

In closing the award-winning rapper said planning and manifesting made her realize that nothing is too farfetched. “If you have dreams of performing at Afro-punk, plan for it then put in the work even if it may not be working on Afro-punk but you may find that any amount of work you put in, will lead you there.” She said.
