VELEZIZWENI– The Ngwemphisi Inkhundla has had 11 projects worth over E10 million in the past five years.
This was revealed by the Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, Sikhumbuzo Dlamini yesterday (Wednesday, May 22, 2024) at Velizizweni, while delivering his speech during the Giya Ndvodza Bus handover.
Dlamini highlighted that a closer examination overall costs gave the impression that Government could deliver projects at a low cost when sharing implementation costs with beneficiaries.
“This approach permits other positive spin-offs like community empowerment in participatory development and training in leadership and business skills. Moreover, the project has not only yielded economic benefits for members involved but it has created a sense of community pride,” Dlamini added.
The projects include Construction of school toilets for Ekukhulumeni Primary School, Ludvondvolo Dip Tank, construction of a semi-detached house for Mbesamandla Primary School, procurement of 640 bags of cement for Ngwempisi Multipurpose Cooperative, construction of a consumer science lab for Ndwandwe High School, construction of a semi- detached house for Mount Hermon Primary School, construction of a semi-detached house for Holy Rosary Primary School, fencing Mtimane Primary School, Ngwempisana Primary School’s kitchen, Macudulwini Multipurpose Cooperative’s bus and Malangeni Dip Tank.
Dlamini further stated that the collaboration between the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development and Microprojects programme has continued to be a flagship of success in spearheading Government’s programmes focused in rural development and poverty reduction with special emphasis on income generating projects.
“It is humbling to the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini to witness Their Majesties identifying and fully supporting poverty alleviation initiatives,” Dlamini said.
He further stated that it is within Government’s vision to pursue expansion into other project areas, which are a priority need for improving the socio economic lives of rural communities.
“I implore Giya Ndvodza Multi-Purpose Cooperative to take responsibility in professionally operating their income generating project,” he added. Dlamini concluded by emphasising that His Majesty’s Government will continually challenge the Members of Parliament (MPs), Regional Administrators (RAs), Regional Secretaries (RSs), Tinkhundla committees, local chiefs, development committees, community development officers, and the Microprojects unit to work hard in ensuring that the Regional Development Fund (RDF) is also used as a vehicle to achieve His Majesty’s vision for a developed Eswatini.
