12 PUPILS CO-HOST ON EBIS

MBABANE– About 12 pupils from various high schools across the country are co-hosting live on air on EBIS (Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Service) today (Friday, June 7, 2024) and tomorrow (Saturday, June 8, 2024) to celebrate youth month.

The pupils will have the chance to work alongside experienced radio presenters at EBIS, reading news, discussing topics, and sharing their perspectives on various issues. The event is themed, ‘Taking EBIS to the Future,’ aiming to showcase the talents and ambitions of these young people. It is also highlighting their potential as future media professionals.

The EBIS is the national broadcaster of the Kingdom of Eswatini. It is known for providing a range of services to the people of Eswatini, including news, music, entertainment, educational programming, and cultural content. It is be hosting Form Four and Five pupils from selected high schools for the whole day of Friday and Saturday.

EBIS Marketing Officer Khumbuzile Mbingo expressed her enthusiasm for the event, saying, “I’m so excited to be a part of this as it’s a first of its kind. I have met the students, and I love the energy they have brought. I’m definite that we are going to have an exciting weekend as we celebrate youth month.”

EBIS has partnered with World Vision and UNICEF to ensure that the event is a success and provides meaningful support for young people’s aspirations. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to empowering youth and promoting their development, both within the media industry and beyond.

The 12 pupils were picked from a diverse group of high schools, which include; Lubulini, Mpofu, St. Joseph’s, St. Mark’s, Sibovu, Mhlatane, and Evelyn Bearing, representing various regions of the Kingdom of Eswatini. 10 females and 2 males were picked to thrill and thrive on air this weekend.

This exciting opportunity for the students highlights EBIS’s commitment to showcasing young talent and providing a platform for their voices to be heard across the country, since it’s their month.
