2022 SCHOOL CALENDAR RELEASED

MBABANE – The Ministry of Education released the final calendar for all primary and high school institutions in the country for the year 2022.

The calendar is divided into three academic terms, which also take into account the 2021 academic year which is being completed at the beginning of 2022 in the country.

The calendar was released by the Minister of Education, Lady Howard Mabuza, and it reads as such:

  1. Academic Year 2021
    Term 3:
    Commencement of Term 3: 11th January 2022
    End of Term 3 and Academic Year 2021: 25th March 2022
  2. Academic Year 2022
    This academic year will comprise two terms and the compressed curriculum
    will be used to cover all teaching and learning.

    Term 1:
    Commencement of Academic Year 2022: 5th April 2022
    Mid-term Break: 23rd – 27th June 2022
    Resumption of Classes: 28th June 2022
    End of Term 1: 19th August 2022

    Term 2:
    Commencement of Term 2: 7
    th September 2022
    Mid-term Break: 27th – 31st October 2022
    Resumption of Classes: 1st November 2022
    End of Academic Year 2022: 22nd December 2022


    Teachers, parents and pupils are also urged to take note of the following:
  1. Schools’ official closing dates for academic years 2021 and 2022 will be on 25th March 2022 and 22nd December 2022 respectively.
  2. Schools closure on 25th March 2022 will not affect the Form 5 classes as they will be continuing with their external examinations until 31st March 2022.
  3. External examinations for the academic year 2021 are as follows:
    a) Grade 7: 28th February – 10th March 2022
    b) Form 3: 14th February – 7th March 2022
    c) Form 5: 1st – 31st March 2022

    The marking of external examinations and the publicising of results for the academic year 2021 will be completed by end of March 2022 for JC and EPC.

    In ending academic year 2021, examinations for non-completing classes will be conducted by schools internally. In the year 2023, school days will be back to normal with instructional times categorised into the usual three terms.
