MBABANE – The Ministry for Education and Training has pledged to improve the standard of education at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA), following recent events that have brought negative publicity to the institution.
This was revealed by Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo during the appointment of a 21-member technical committee tasked with evaluating the education system in Eswatini. This development was revealed as part of the ministry’s commitment to improve the standard of education in Eswatini.
According to the Minister, the committee members will divide their responsibilities and strive to complete their work within a six-month timeframe.
He said the goal of the committee is to collaborate and address various areas of concern within the Eswatini education system, including the recent decline in the national pass rate.
He explained that through focused effort and deliberate action, the committee hopes to bring about positive change and help ensure that Eswatini’s education system meets the highest standards of excellence.
The appointed 21-member technical committee, chaired by Mboni Dlamini, includes a diverse group of esteemed education professionals and experts in the field, including, Mboni Dlamini, Secretary at Eswatini Qualifications Authority Njabuliso Gwebu, retired teacher Dr. Simanga Alex Tsela, Consultant, Victor Nkambule, Education Specialist,Phephile Magongo, retired teacher, Dr. Nathi Nkambule, Regional Education Officer , Enerst Simelane, Director-Directorate of Industrial and Vocational Training, Prof. Themba Mahlaba, Lecturer at UNESWA, Macandza Mamba, Headteacher at Somjalose High School, Musa Hlophe, Director National-Curriculum Centre, Mcolisi Stan Maphosa, Planning Officer Education Prof. Marcia Hillary, Advocate, Dr. Bethusile Mahlalela, Consultant at UNESCO ,Busisiwe Simelane, retired Managing Director at Macmillan, Makhosazana Madondo, Chairperson – Eswatini Higher Education Council, Tizzie Maphalala, retired Education Specialist ,Mandla Dlamini, ECESWA, Lotsi Vilakati, SNAT, Phoseka Masilela, EPA IT Officer, ( to be announced) and Representative from the Disability Community( to be announced).
