In the end, 28 foreign nationals were officially charged with various offenses. Of the 28 individuals charged, 17 were given the option to pay admission of guilt ranging from E500 to E1000 for their violations. These violations included working outside the designated area mentioned in their permit. All 17 individuals chose to pay the fine.

The remaining 11 foreign nationals were detained due to overstaying their permitted time in the country or not having any permits at all. These individuals are set to appear before the Manzini Magistrate Court today (Wednesday 14/02/2024) to face charges of violating the Immigration Act No 17 of 1982.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this operation serves as a clear message that the Ministry is committed to clamping down on immigration violations. Cases like these, according to the Ministry, highlight the importance of complying with immigration regulations and possessing the appropriate documentation when residing or operating in a foreign country. The Ministry of Home Affairs encourages foreign nationals to adhere to the immigration laws and regulations to avoid any legal consequences.

The Ministry, along with immigration officers, will continue to safeguard national security and maintain order, creating an environment in which both citizens and foreign nationals can coexist peacefully and lawfully within the bounds of the immigration laws.
