MBABANE – The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has announced 30 scholarships from the Republic of India.
The scholarships were announced by Ministry of Labour and Social Security Principal Secretary (PS) Makhosini Mndawe, who issued a statement sent to this publication. The scholarships are under what is known as the India-Maitri Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2024/25.
These scholarships are for Emaswati who are interested in pursuing studies towards Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD qualifications in Indian Universities. The eligibility for the scholarship is as follows:
- Should be Liswati (provide proof of nationality).
- Applicants must have completed high school education (provide copy of high school leaving certificate).
- Master’s and PhD applicants to provide highest level diploma/academic transcripts.
- Applicants should be between 18 and 40 years for Undergraduate and Post Graduate and for PhD, the age limit is 50.
- Applicants have the option to apply to five Indian Universities.
- A 500-word essay in English is mandatory to ascertain English proficiency or Tofel/Elts.
- Awarded or rejected candidates will be notified by May 31, 2024.
The scholarships will cover the following:
- Tuition paid for by ICCR directly to the University.
- A monthly stipend/allowance.
- Direct round trip economy class ticket.
All ICCR scholarship students will have to obtain medical insurance coverage on their own at an approximate cost of E900 per annum before they travel to India.
