MBABANE – Working towards the betterment of elderly people in the country.
In efforts to help the elderly people in the country, a man named Teevee Nkambule has dedicated his time and efforts working as the ambassador of the Eswatini Food For Life Charity House which is located in Ezulwini Belekeceni.
In an interview with Nkambule, he mentioned that the charity house was fairly new as it had been established about four months ago. He explained that the charity house was an initiative that had been carried out by sponsors he requested to keep anonymous.
“Basically, what happened was that the sponsors of the charity house were in the country for a while and saw the need for such an initiative. I was then contacted and asked to take part in this project as an ambassador so one of my main duties is to ensure that people are aware of the help that is being offered to old people in the country,” said Nkambule.
Nkambule stated that so far, three elderly people had been taken in as there was a certain criteria that had to be followed in selecting the elderly people that would be fully catered for.
“We cater to the elderly that we take in fully, that means we take care of them, feed them, clothe them, provide toiletries and anything that they may need. At the moment, we do not have staff that can look after the old aged people who are sickly and also unable to take care of themselves. This is why we currently have a criteria in which we need to adhere to in selecting the elderly people we can help. We do hope that in the near future, we are able to allow all the elderly people to come and receive assistance from us,” said Nkambule.
The ambassador stated that in total, the charity house would eventually cater to 30 elderly people (15 females and 15 males). He went on to thank all the people who had shown interest in volunteering at the Eswatini Food for Life Charity House and expressed that there were so many people who really wanted to help in any way they could.
