According to the statement, Dzanyana Primary School faced challenges due to the lack of water in the area and at times the older pupils would be asked to get water from a river which was nearby. The water was contaminated and therefore, the students were not allowed to drink it.

During an interview with this reporter, Jeremiah Zwane, the school’s Head Teacher, expressed that the water taps had been of great help as the scarcity of water within the area was something that really affected the children in the school.

“Now we are able to water our plants as a school and also use clean water during our daily duties. Previously there was a big struggle when it came to accessing clean water because at times, even the river near us would run dry,” he said.

The head teacher also mentioned through World Vision Eswatini that some children would hope for food that was cooked by the school for them, but due to the challenges in accessing water, the cooking would become difficult to achieve.

According to World Vision Eswatini, Zandile Matsebula, Development Facilitator for Mahlangatsha Area Programme, also noted that E430 000 was spent on the water system and the taps were constructed in a manner that allowed pupils living with disabilities to be accommodated.
