MBABANE – The Government has applauded a new grocery shop Easy Buy for recruiting 40 emaSwati for employment.
Yesterday, the Minister of Commerce Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo officially opened the shop located where there used to be a First National Bank (FNB) Branch.
“Easy Buy Mbabane has recruited 40 more emaSwati so far with more employment growth to be realised in the future. The group of companies have provided employment to more than 300 emaSwati in their different businesses.
The employment opportunities that have been availed by the businesses have assisted workers to have a decent life and be able to provide for their families needs,”
“As His Majesty’s Government, we highly appreciate such positive contributions to the economy and urge other businesses to also match what this Group of Companies have done. I have been informed that even during the COVID-19 Pandemic no workers were retrenched or laid off but they were all maintained to ensure that their livelihoods were not affected,”said Khumalo.
In addition Khumalo mentioned that, Easy Buy Supermarket is owned by a foreign investor from Bangladesh, Swazi Bangla Investment, who has also invested in other various business ventures since 1995.
The group of companies include an energy sector venture, the restaurant business which is the Tandoori Chain and The Kitchen, fashion industry mainly Century Fashion, Menzclub and Cat’s Eye and lastly the wholesale and retail business which is Wholmart and Easy Buy.
As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, the enterprise will designate a particular area within the store for donation of goods whereby customers can donate groceries or other complimentary staples for those in need which can then be collected in that very same corner through management’s supervision by those in need. This is a very worthwhile feat for which we commend Easy Buy.
Also worth mentioning is that as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, in the past, the Group of Companies have made contributions to society in different communities which totaled to 800 parcels being given away.
This initiative will continue even in the future to assist those that are in need for the betterment of society. Such kind gestures address hunger and reduce crime in society.
The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini further commits to ensure that such businesses will get the support deserved by improving the ease of doing business.
As we continue to strive for a conducive business environment, we are cognizant of the fact that the business community has also a prominent role to play with regards to ensuring the forging of alliances with businesses in the same value-chain.
“May I take this opportunity to wish Easy Buy success in their business ventures and pledge Government support in providing an enabling business environment.
I would like to thank you all for taking the time today to be part of this significant occasion and it is now my singular honour to declare Easy Buy Mbabane officially opened,” said Khumalo.
