MBABANE – It looks like the Easter holidays have been a pleasant experience for tourists in Eswatini, as no reported tourists were involved in any accident.
This was said by Minister for Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane today at Hilton Garden Inn, Mbabane. This was after the Minister unveiled former Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) Director of Communications Vusi Dlamini as the new Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Mkhonta-Simelane said as a Ministry, they were happy because many tourists were able to enter the country. She believed that the campaign ‘Swenka nge nkonzo’ was able to help them attract the tourists into the country. She said in the meantime, they were still gathering the number of the tourists that visited the country.
The Minister said from what she saw at the few points of entry she visited during the holidays, she was impressed. She described tourists as important people because they brought money into the country, so they deserved to be treated with dignity and respect, as that would give them pleasant memories about the country.
She said tourists bought food from businesses and used hotels in the country to sleep in. They used taxis for Emaswati to transport themselves within the country. Therefore, it was important for tourists to be treated well. She said this also made them talk more about this country, enticing other tourists to visit this country as well.
