MBABANE – The more we vaccinate, the more chances government is ready to ease lockdown restrictions.

This was evident today when Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini announced new eased COVID-19 restrictions under Adjusted Risk Level 2.

The eased restrictions include the revision of the curfew to 9pm- 4am, shopping hours to 6am-7pm and the extension of restaurant operating hours to 8pm.

Other eased restrictions are on alcohol sale, which will now be Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm for home consumption only and two worship services a week, both under strict COVID-19 health protocols.

“Night Clubs, night vigils and memorial services remain prohibited. All other measures as captured in Risk Level 2 remain the same. The Ministry of Commerce will enforce strict adherence to these new restrictions through the withdrawal of licenses to all contravening businesses,” the PM said.

He continued: “I am happy that the vaccination rollout exercise has reached more emaSwati and residents of this Kingdom, thanks to the resilience of the Ministry of Health and all stakeholders involved in the vaccination campaign.”

The premier further stated that the country is now approaching the 200 000 mark of fully vaccinated emaSwati.

“We encourage all eligible citizens and residents to get vaccinated, not only as a means of protecting their lives but also to protect their loved ones,” he said.

“I cannot overemphasise the importance of exercising extreme caution as the COVID-19 measures are eased. This is not a licence to be complacent but a challenge to all of us to do what is right for us and those we come into contact with on a daily basis,” he concluded.
