MBABANE– It is a known fact that Eswatini has talented individuals, and Amanda Mo is no different.
This singer, who has paved her way and has warmed her way into many people’s hearts through her magical voice, has done it again with her two latest singles that are receiving all the love on social media platforms.
After an almost five year hiatus, Amanda Mo has officially returned to the music scene with a bang. The songstress has since released two songs to break her hiatus. One of the singles titled ‘Kuyavela’ debuted on the Eswatini Top Chart Show for a week straight.
‘Kuyavela’ according to the singer is basically ode to love. A reassurance that not even distance can kill the connection and feelings between two people that love each other.
With regards to the sound the song has more of a dance inspired feel to it without losing the soulfulness that Amanda Mo has become synonymous with. This song resonates with many music lovers as there comes a point in life when one has to take time out to find oneself and all you are left with is a is a feeling of hope.
The other single released two weeks ago ‘Ngihlanyiswa Nguwe’, is an emotionally and spiritually charged song which speaks to love at its highest level. It is the definition of what it means to be crazy in love without being romantically specific.
Both songs are sitting on over 2000 streams across all streaming services, it has also been doing rounds on South African radio stations where various radio hosts called it ‘a defining work of art’.
A number of people from the various social media platforms expressed their happiness with Amanda Mo’s recent work and rebranding.
“I’m in love with the new Mo, her sound and voice has matured over time and as her loyal fans we are here for it,” she said.
Another staunch Amanda Mo fan said the singer really did herself good for taking the break as she has come back stronger.
“If you have listened to the new songs you can tell she gave herself time and if an album were to drop it would be amazing,” said another fan.
Worth noting is that, Amanda Mo is a fine artist, singer and songwriter currently based in South Africa who has been hailed by print and television media for her vocal performance, stage presence and sound.
Her first Siswati song release ‘Injwayelo’ was picked up by various Radio Stations outside Eswatini and made a good impression on Radio stations such as Ukhozi FM, Ligwalagwala FM and Gagasi FM.
Her second single ‘Uwami’ would go on to be the first song to make notable impact on the South African and Eswatini music scene.
‘Uwami’ peaked at number 1 on Ligwalalagwala FM charts, number 1 on Massive Metro, peaked at top 20 on the Metro FM charts and was the highest play listed song by Swazi artist in 2018 on Major SA radio stations.
Her debut album ‘Sitsandzile’ has brought home a total of three SWAMMA awards and a total of nine SWAMMA nominations with the most play listed music (by Female Swazi artist) on Major radio stations and inclusion in major South African Radio Chart shows.
The story of Amanda Mo officially began with the formation of a singing group when she was still in high school; she sites this group as the catalyst of all her passion and creativity in music.
Her introduction as a solo artist was through her contributing her talents to a Swazi compilation album with a song called ‘I Like It’.
Making a comeback in the music industry is never easy but this singer says she is ready take one whatever challenge that comes her way: “My Journey has purely been led by my passion for music. I decided I could not neglect my calling after I had graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I then moved from just recording music for fun to making music with a purpose. There has been a lot of lessons along the way, most of them good and some of them not so, but everything happens for a reason,” she said.
