AN ELEGANT 77TH ‘BIRTHDAY’ FOR THE UNITED NATIONS

MBABANE– Informative, serene and elegant!

These were  United Nation’s (UN) 77th celebrations yesterday which saw dignitaries and officials, including His Excellency Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini, in attendance, to celebrate the organization.

According to the UN Eswatini Twitter page, the UN was created to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations and promote social progress, better living standards and human rights.

“Seventy seven years later, we couldn’t have been more proud of our achievements.

“UN Day celebrations today is an opportunity to reaffirm our common agenda, and the principles of the UN Charter that have guided us for the past 77 years,” read UN Eswatini page.

UN Eswatini Resident Coordinator for Eswatini Wachira George said as they commemorated the UN Day 2022, he recognised and celebrated all UN colleagues in Eswatini and around the world for their invaluable contribution to the work and ideals of the United Nations.

“Your hard work and dedication keep the ideals of our UN alive,” said George.

In the meantime, Leane Mayer, a pupil who was part of the celebrations, said education was the greatest weapon that could change the world.

“I am happy to have been part of the consultation sessions to discuss issues around education in the country. We need a more inclusive education system where no one is left behind,” said Mayer.
