MBABANE – The down-pour could not discourage musicians, poets and fun lovers who took to the stage and gave it their all.
The Green Lifestyle Festival was held at Legends Backpackers in Ezulwini yesterday from 11am to 8pm.
First to bless the stage was musician Thobile Makhoyane, who was later joined by South African artist, King Don Thobela and gave a powerful African duet.
Poets Dzeli, Sbu J, B-Sim and Senetisiwe did not disappoint when it came to thought provoking poetry.
United Kingdom-born, Eswatini-based musician Hanwah took people on a memory lane with her mesmerising voice. Qibho Intalektual performed a mix of poetry, Swangoma and single ‘Eyi Awati’ which got people on the dance floor.
Last was musician Sands who got people praying, dancing and singing along on the dance floor with his hit song ‘Vuma’.
During an interview with the festival’s organiser, Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini, he revealed that the festival sought to teach emaSwati about the importance of taking care of the planet they live in.
“Going green means implementing changes in your lifestyle to help you live in a more eco-friendly way.
“This is a problem the whole world is facing together and the aim is to raise as much awareness and bring about a certain level of change to reduce pollution and fight climate change,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini further revealed that this was the second Green Lifestyle festival to be hosted.
“This is the second festival and we are still going to have more. We are very pleased that MTN Bushfire Festival’s director Jiggs Thorne and his family honoured our invite as well as all the artists who gave amazing performances and also emaSwati who came out to support us despite the rain,” said Dlamini.
