AUDITOR GENERAL AND PAC HELPED GOVT RECOVER E176 MILLION IN 2019 AND 2020

Government has managed to recover over E176 million through the help of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the office of Auditor General. The recovered monies were for the fiscal years 2019 and 2020.

This was revealed by Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg during a workshop with members of parliament today.

The minister and Auditor General Timothy Matsebula lead an engagement with MPs on the work of the Office of the Auditor General.

The engagement was supported by the African Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions of the English speaking countries (AFROSAI-E).

It further provided an opportunity for the office of AG to present its Strategic Plan for 2021-2025 to MPs.

It was stated that the office of the AG’s strategic mission is to provide assurance to stakeholders on accountability, transparency, integrity and value for money in the management of public resources, through quality audits.
