BAWSS FOUNDATION AND SPAR DONATE 800 SANITARY PADS TO VUSWENI LEARNERS

MBABANE – Chief Senzangakhona of Vusweni has continued to display exceptional leadership skills as he spearheaded the sourcing of sanitary pad support to young girls from the community.

The Chief’s efforts led to today’s donation of 800 sanitary pads by the Spar and the BAWSS Foundation to 3 schools at Vusweni. Learners who will benefit from the charitable gift are from Vusweni Primary School, Vusweni High School, as well as Sikanye High School.

Speaking at the handover at Vusweni today, Chief Senzangakhona said that it is painful as a child to handle growing, education, as well as the challenge of having all the necessary things that dignify a young person.

The Chief’s sentiments were echoed by BAWSS Foundation founder Anele Shabangu.

“It is shocking that some adolescents use socks and dry dung in place of sanitary pads,” said Shabangu, citing that that is why they partnered with Spar and volunteered their weekends to work on this problem. Sharing her sentiments in her speech was Spar representative Khulile Ndlovu.

“We want to appreciate that we are not just here to make money, but we also recognise that the community has needs,” said the Spar representative.

Thanking the sponsors on behalf of the schools was teacher Ndabenhle Nsingwane who appreciated that learners will now have an option to get help from the schools when they need sanitary pads.
