MBABANE– The second edition of the Makoti Festival promises to be an even bigger and better festival for all trendsetters.
The event is slated for April 22, 2023 at Malkerns Country Club.
The Makoti Festival Organiser, Thembinkhosi Mthethwa said the festival is for women and it celebrates them and their trendy fashion sense.
“The Makoti festival celebrates women and promotes the ending of Gender Based Violence towards women.
“It also promotes culture and fashion in the sense that whether you are a new school makoti or old, you still look cool in whatever you decide to wear,” he said.
Mthethwa further revealed to this reporter that a competition would be held and prizes won for last year’s Makotis.
“We will have a competition which will be launched on Friday where we will post pictures from last year’s festival.
“EmaSwati will vote for who was the best dressed at the festival before the second festival and the best dressed gets to walk away with an awesome prize,” said Mthethwa.
Mthethwa also mentioned that this year promises a bigger and more dynamic.
“Last year we had people from Mozambique join the festival but this year we are inviting more neighbouring countries to the festival. This brings out diversity and creativity and also promotes cultural exchange,” said Mthethwa. He further mentioned that tickets to the festival can be purchased online on Howler, Shoprite Computicket and Galitos.
