…as girls get E6,000 each for their businesses

MBABANE – Inkhosikati Make LaMashwama today encouraged girls to break the cycle of poverty through entrepreneurship.

The Inkhosikati was speaking to 15 girls from Mpolonjeni umphakatsi in Siteki, who were recently trained in entrepreneurship by Junior Achievement (JA) Eswatini.

The Inkhosikati was speaking in her capacity as the patron of the Imbeleko Foundation. Imbeleko Foundation, under her patronage, supported 15 businesses owned by the girls with a generous investment of E90,000, where each girl will get E6,000.

According to a statement from JA’s official social media channel, this week saw the start of training where the iNkhosikati has ensured all resources needed to assist the trainees are made available.

The statement continues to state the official opening of the training Zandi Jele- Nhleko who is a director at Imbeleko Foundation encouraged the girls to ensure they complete the training and get themselves out of poverty by being their family’s providers.

She noted that it was the iNkhosikati’s vision to see just a few selected becoming self-made business ladies.

 “Yilwa ntombo and break the cycle of poverty,” she said.

JA Eswatini Executive Director Phetsile Masilela encouraged the girls to utilize this opportunity by fully attending and implementing all the lessons learned to create more opportunities for themselves. She encouraged them to network and be assertive in all they do.

The Mpolonjeni umphakatsi was represented by Babe Dvuba, who congratulated the girls for being selected to partake, saying the hope of improving the community was now in their hands. The training by JA and Imbeleko Foundation will go on for the next 12 months. Six of those months will be for mentorship where the girls will start operating their businesses.
