MBABANE – Buganu ceremony is one of the events that provide an opportunity for Their Majesties and the nation to bond.

According to information sourced from the Facebook page of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Buganu ceremony also gives an opportunity for Lutsango members to honour Their Majesties for the duration of the event. The members of the Lutsango regiment were seen delivering various gifts to Their Majesties when they arrived at Buhleni Royal Residence on Friday afternoon. That was one of the ways in which they honoured Their Majesties.

The ceremony started from Friday and ended yesterday. Yesterday afternoon, the members of Lutsango regiment got an opportunity to bid farewell to Their Majesties. Speaking on behalf of His Majesty the King, Hhohho Indvuna Lotfobhi Ndzimandze conveyed the sincere wishes of His Majesty to the regiment for a safe journey back to their homelands.

The Buganu ceremony, which commenced two days ago, has been an occasion of significance and celebration for the citizens of Eswatini, according to the information from the Ministry. The ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances, and displays of the rich heritage and customs that define the kingdom.

Excitement could be seen on the faces of the members of the Lutsango regiment when they arrived at Buhleni Royal Residence. The excitement was more evident when they delivered gifts to Her Majesty the Indlovukazi. The Queen Mother was also glowing with excitement when she received the gifts, and later thanked them for having taken their time to deliver the quality gifts, which included the Buganu traditional drink and other gifts such as fruits and handcraft products.

The following day was mainly characterised by the traditional dances displayed by Lutsango. Such dances were broadcast live by the country’s television stations such as Eswatini TV and Channel YemaSwati. Different organisations also took an opportunity to market their products before Lutsango and other members of the public who had attended the event.

In the evening Their Majesties took turns in delivering their highly anticipated speeches, which mainly thanked the Lutsango for turning out in their numbers for the event and further encouraged them to be united and continue to work hard in sustaining such activities.

As the Buganu ceremony concluded its first session, the entire nation eagerly waits for the continuation of this momentous event, according to the Ministry. From the Ministry’s viewpoint, the second session is expected to bring additional celebrations and activities that will further highlight the cultural heritage, accomplishments, and aspirations of Lutsango. The second session of the Buganu ceremony is usually held at Hlane Royal Residence at the beginning of March.
