MANZINI – The Roman Catholic Church has been for a week celebrating the 100 years of the four sisters arrival in Eswatini.
This has seen a series of commemorative mass, mentions and various interviews on media outlets, like Eswatini TV and Eswatini Broadcasting Services (EBIS).
According to one of the sisters, Sister Tersita, they arrived in Eswatini on December 5, 1922. Since then, they have helped the country’s education system, health care system and the live hoods of over 2000 children.
“December is thanks giving month for us because we celebrate God for keeping us to see, 100 years in Eswatini. We are living proof that when you link everything you do to God it becomes possible.
“We are happy to have been part of Eswatini,” she said.
When mentioning some of the mission schools and hospitals they have helped built in Eswatini she said it had been nothing but grace.
The schools and missions include, the St Joseph’s, St Philips and Good Shepherd, among others.
Meanwhile, in line with the spirit of giving and celebrating during the Christmas holiday, the Roman Catholic Church in Lobamba Parish is going to be hosting a fundraising dinner on December 16, 2022.
This was announced by Lobamba Head of Parish Percy Gule, who said proceeds from the dinner would go towards building toilets for their Parish. He said the dinner was to further spread the Christmas cheer around their church.
“We would like to extend an invite to all Catholics to come to this dinner of goodwill so we are able to help those who are less fortunate. Dinner for one is going to cost E250 while a couple dinner is going to cost E400.
“We plead with all Catholics to come to the dinner and play a part in making sure the next person has something good to share about their Christmas holiday,” said Gule. Worth noting is that in the month of December, the Roman Church usually hosts a series of church services which seek to help the less privileged.
