MBABANE– Happy Global Money Week!
Yesterday, the Central Bank of Eswatini was commemorating Global Money Week (GMW) at Sibane Sami Hotel.
Central Bank Eswatini was joined by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Training, Financial Services Regulatory Authority, Centre for Financial Inclusion, Banks, Financial institutions and their associations, civil society organisations and schools during the commemoration.
The GMW is an annual global awareness campaign that highlights the importance of training young people on financial literacy.
The campaign targets primary and high school students, as well as out-of-school youth so as to acquire financial literacy skills from a tender age so they can make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve financial well-being and resilience.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Eswatini, Dr. Phil Mnisi, stated that the Central Bank is passionate about initiatives.
“Global Money Week has a particular focus on empowering children and young people through financial education on sound macro-economic management which is critical for economic growth and development and also requires an economically and financially literate population,” said the Governor.
The Governor further encouraged members of the public to contact the Central Bank or the FSRA or view the websites of these supervisory bodies to see the lists of licensed or authorized entities.
“We continue to reiterate the message that “If the promised return sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” said the Governor.
