… Former Matsapha Town Board CEO Gciniwe Fakudze among Board Members

MBABANE – Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Prince Simelane, has appointed the new Town Planning Board which is expected to serve for three years.
The appointments were announced by the minister yesterday when presenting the board to the media at the ministry. During the announcement, the minister noted that the members of the board were appointed because of their humanity and expertise, in line with the nations’ constitution.
Chairperson of the board was announced to be Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Clifford Mamba. Mamba has a long track record of public service, as following his education, he became the ambassador to the European Union from 1991 to 1996. After leaving the European Union, he became the ambassador to the Republic of Korea and Asia including a co-accreditation to Brunei, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan. From 2002 to 2005, Mamba was the ambassador to the United Nations from Eswatini. Mamba also served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, before his current posting in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
Other members of the board are senior medical officer Dr Bongiwe Malinga, Dr Samuel Seyama, Gciniwe Fakudze, as well as Chief Roads Engineer Buhle Vincent Dlamini.
Speaking after his appointment as Chairperson of the Board, Mamba expressed that they will do their best in achieving the board’s mandate, which is rezonings and land uses in towns.
“This committee is responsible for town planning in the country. For example, if you want to build a structure or do something on your land which is prohibited by that town’s planning scheme, you then appeal to this board,” said Mamba.
