MBABANE — Local comedians Kwethu and Mdzura the Comedian hosted a school fundraising campaign at Swazi National High School on Friday, (May 17, 2024.)
Born Mduduzi Dlamini, famously known as Mdzura, the comedian shared with this publication that they started this project at the beginning of the year by visiting schools around the country.
He said, “We were supposed to visit schools in the Manzini region on their first term. On the second term, we were supposed to visit schools in the Hhohho region. Lastly, we visited schools in Shiselweni and Lubombo. Our plans were then derailed by schools in the Manzini region, as they were doing sports during our visits.”
On this occasion, the hosts invited other local artists, like Mavara Le Poet and Kwethu the Comedian, to grace the event with their talents. The event was blessed with Afro-pop, Gospel, poetry, motivation, and comedy. The event was successful, as they had a huge number of attendees to support their goal of giving back to society.
According to Dlamini, they have already visited more than five schools so far and are still yet to continue. He said that they were looking forward to visiting more schools and doing charity work. He further stated that they are putting in a lot of work with his partner, Kwethu, to make sure this national tour is a success.
Worth noting is that the comedians are still seeking sponsorship so that they can visit other schools. Dlamini mentioned that for now the money they have only give them the perimeter to visit Manzini schools however, they still want to visit the other regions of the country.
