MBABANE– COMESA Federation of Women in Business has launched two programs that will take beef productivity in the Kingdom of Eswatini to greater heights.
The main aim of COMESA is to improve the lives of women as well as that of the economy of Eswatini.
Chairperson of COMESA Federation of Women in Business Thandi Nxumalo thanked the government for believing in and supporting their vision.
“We would like to thank the Eswatini Government as well as chiefs in the various communities where we work with different women for their unwavering support in this project. The project itself seeks to improve the economy as well as uplift women,” said Nxumalo.
Nxumalo further revealed that their main aim was to improve beef production in Eswatini.
“There will be 12 600 cows in total. These cows will be brought in by each of the women and the deadline is the end of February.
“The cows will have a central site instead of different feedlots which will be managed by the women. The central feedlots include the price for rent which is for four months as well as food for the cows,” said Nxumalo.
Nxumalo further mentioned there were a few challenges.
“We realised that different feedlots pose a challenge. We have a lot of calves that are suitable for beef production and will also be ready for the market. Our target is that they should be ready in May. This is so that the business remains sustainable,” said Nxumalo.
