BUHLENI– In just a space of three weeks, the Ndzingeni-based team known as Community, has won their second trophy in an under 13’s tournament.
The youngsters were crowned champions of the Buhleni Build-It U-13 tournament, beating their fierce rivals Mvuma Hotspurs at Buhleni Sports Ground. Actually, Community completed the double over Hotspurs as they beat them 2-0 to win the first-ever Cabana Under-13 tournament to be hosted for the Buhleni Zone just recently.
This time, Community recorded an emphatic 3-1 win. An impressive eight teams participated in the Build-It tournament and also included Macocweni, JB Arsenal, Mahombe Arsena, Superstars, Seven Stars and Sivutsa.
The Build-It U-13 tournament is the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) initiative and is played in all the Build-It stores nationwide with the best players from each branch selected to compete on the main day of the tournament later in the year.
Such junior tournaments have already produced Premier League stars like Siwakhile ‘Swakis’ Shongwe of giants Mbabane Highlanders and Mayibongwe ‘Suarez’ Mabuza who is with Nsingizini Hotspurs.
Both players have also represented the country in junior national teams with the latter playing a big role for Eswatini last October as it played host to the COSAFA Under-20 Championships, a tournament finally won by Zambia.
