This happened today when Microproject officials presented the contractor who has since been awarded the tender to construct a proper storm water drainage system that will absorb the stagnant water that has made the road difficult to drive through.

Speaking during the launch, Sibonangaye Dlamini, an Engineer from Microprojects, said sorting the damages, the contractor will have to install drainage pipes that will channel the stagnant water into main piping system. He further announced that Valid Traders Pty Ltd has been awarded the tender to do the job. He said the project will resume this month.

Asking for tolerance from motorists, Dlamini begged motorist to be cautious and adhered to road signs during the construction which covers a kilometre. He further requested residents to work together with the construction company.

Meanwhile, Manzini North Member of Parliament Macford Sibandze said the damages caused by the current faulty drainage system has caused a lot of havoc to the road and vehicles.

“I think it is unquantifiable in terms of monetary value if we can calculate the damage that has been caused. We believe that as from today, the damage is now behind us,” he said.

Sibandze stated that the project will cost E1.4 million.

Bheki, a representative from Valid Traders, assured that the company will hire local youth as per the request from the constituency council.
