LOBAMBA – His Majesty King Mswati III has commanded Government and other stakeholders to continue creating job opportunities for the youth, for the future of the country to be bright.
Speaking in the House of Assembly when delivering the Speech from the Throne today, His Majesty the King described the youth as the architects of the Eswatini’s future. He further described the youth as the people who were at the core of Eswatini’s vision to make the country a world class territory.
The King said however, the daunting spectre of unemployment engulfed over more than half of them, presenting a formidable challenge that required the country’ immediate attention. The country called upon Government and Emaswati to steadfastly continue to forge pathways and opportunities for young people in Eswatini.
He stated that Eswatini had spearheaded numerous initiatives, such as the Youth Fund, Rural Development Fund (RDF), and Small-Scale and Export Guarantee Schemes. The King said these endevours were designed to facilitate access to financing, enabling young entrepreneurs to initiate businesses and in turn, create employment opportunities.
“We cannot emphasise enough the role of quality education and skills development in paving our path to the shared prosperity that we have envisioned,” the King said. The Head of State mentioned that creating employment for Eswatini’s youth hinged on the quality of education, right from the lowest level to the highest level.
The King expressed gratitude to the country’s development partners, who had been unwavering in supporting Government’s efforts. The country, according to the King, would with its full participation and would learn from the great experiences it got from regional and international organisations.
