MBABANE – The Exams Council of Eswatini has swiftly uncovered the culprits and all the details relating to the leaked examination papers this month.

This was revealed by the by the Secretary of the Eswatini Examinations Council, Dr Mandlenkhosi Dlamini, when speaking to the media about the findings yesterday at their offices in Ezulwini.

Dlamini revealed the number of culprits who were involved in the leaking of Eswatini General Certificate in Secondary Education exam papers this month, which was three teachers, and 8-10 people who were involved in selling the papers.

Dlamini also went on to reveal how the corrupt scheme was carried out.

“They were copying the questions by hand, and scanning the papers afterwards to create PDF files. They would then send these papers to students through Whatsapp,” revealed Dlamini before explaining how they created Whatsapp Groups to sell the papers.

The Secretary in the Eswatini Examinations Council also confirmed that the culprits were apprehended, and the case was now with law enforcement agencies.

“What is sad is that they also included children in their wrongdoing. The culprits realized that they cannot get access to some schools because they were not known by the students there, so they approached students in those schools in the affected grades to use them as salespeople,” revealed Dlamini.

Dlamini also revealed that the culprits were discovered to have been fairly diligent in their corruption, which shows that they were very intentional about their corruption.
The case will now be handled by law enforcement, following the swift results achieved from the investigation.
