DEADLINE FOR OVER 147 TAIWAN SCHOLARSHIPS NEARING

MBABANE– Since the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) announced over 147 scholarships fellowships and grants for emaSwati, the deadline is next month.

The third Secretary for the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Eswatini, Andrew Chen stated that students who would like to pursue their tertiary education in Taiwan could start applying for some of these fully funded programmes.

“The applications period for the scholarships is open until March 15, 2023, by 4 pm. Applications documents should be sent directly to the universities by applicants before the deadline,” he said.

The duration of the scholarships is four years for undergraduate programmes, two years for Masters Programmes and four years for PhD programmes.

These scholarship benefits include economy class return airfare, housing tuition and textbook costs and a monthly allowance.

Chan further stated that they cooperated with 20 partner universities in Taiwan which covered 33 programmes. Breaking down the programmes available for these scholarships, he mentioned that eight were bachelors, 22 masters and three PhD degrees conducted in English.

“Taiwan is providing financial support for Eswatini students to pursue tertiary studies in Taiwan in 2023,” he said.

Adding, Chan said applicants had to apply for Taiwan ICDF scholarships and university admission separately.

The requirements for scholarships application include a completed application form which can be completed online, printed out and signed, a photocopy of the applicant’s passport or proof of nationality. A photocopy of the applicant’s highest-level diploma and academic transcript which should be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Embassy as well as two letters of references.
