MBABANE— South African artists Sir Trill, Sha Sha, and Blaq Diamond will headline the first edition of Musik Festivista on Christmas Eve.
The debut show will be held at Ka-Langa Stadium in Siteki. This was announced by the main organiser of the show, AwesomeX Events, Banele Dlamini, at a press briefing held at Nandos in Mbabane today. Ncamiso Mavuso founded the festival to spur economic and musical revitalization in the country’s most neglected areas.
“The ‘MUSIK FESTIVISTA’ seeks to stimulate a Native-Led Advocacy Campaign to promote Musik Equity and create economic opportunity for upcoming artists and local communities in Eswatini. In partnership with the arts industry, the ‘Musik Festivista’ will take place every year for the next five years,” shared Dlamini.
The family-oriented show, which will also have kids activities on the day, is Eswatini’s latest effort to address music’s inequities by creating opportunities for our emerging generation of artists through an annual series of world-class live events. Showcasing the best of Eswatini to the world, these events will produce a world-class experience for fun lovers, fans, and artists alike and build local capacity within host regions across the country.
On the line-up for the day will be Sir Trill (SA), Sha Sha (ZIM), Blaq Diamond (SA), DJ PH (SA), Lemon & Herb (SA), The Bishops (SZL), MBO (SZL), Zulu D (SZL), AyaCity (SZL), Lubonjeni DJs, Njebza, Immortal 7, Sweet De Shandis, Que 3, Mabee, Mastermind, and Bandora Da DJ.
“Our goal with the ‘MUSIK FESTIVISTA’ is to inspire local youth and artists to unlock their creativity. We hope to curate an immersive experience that empowers the eight selected artists across Eswatini for a lifetime. The show will feature compelling musical experiences that spotlight emerging talents and legendary artists from around the world performing in front of industry representatives and the press who can transform and elevate careers and an abundance of energetic, open-minded fans.”
He went on to add, “We are incredibly excited to bring this vision to life and also delighted to host the ‘MUSIK FESTIVISTA’ and to provide a platform for creating employment and income-generating initiatives for Lubombo-based communities through the availability of stalls and events management roles. We are honoured and humbled to play a meaningful role that supports new-age efforts to deal with music inequity, challenge poverty, and empower local communities. The neglect of these predicaments has a detrimental effect on Ema Swati, and this situation cannot be allowed to continue unabated. We look forward to the event.”
The MCs of the day will be Nhlanhla “Mzekezeke” Matsebula, Detroit Emmah, and Sinnour (Hypeman and Dancer).

OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL YOUNG AND UPCOMING ARTISTS
The Lubumbo Musik FestiVista presents an opportunity for all young and upcoming artists to showcase their talents in music. Eight (8) artists will get to perform at least two (2) songs from their production.
To qualify to be part of the eight artists, an artist will post their past live performances on the AwesomeX Facebook page, and the videos will be ranked according to the number of likes. The eight highest-ranked videos will be selected.
Rules
The video should be strictly 1 minute (60 seconds).
All genres are allowed.
Groups won’t be discriminated against.
The age restriction is 18–35 years old.
AwesomeX Events invites experienced vendors to apply to trade at the first edition of the show. Trader applications are to be sent to +268 7805 2288. Trader applications close on December 19, 2023.
Dlamini also shared that there will be shuttle services for convenience and to assure the public of tight security, as they have enlisted the Fire Department and local police and emergency services.
