MBABANE – It is a happy day for Diesel 50 ppm S vehicle owners!

This is as the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has announced that diesel prices will do down by 60 cents effective Friday (December 2, 2022).

Issuing the statement was the Principal Secretary to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, Dorcas Dlamini, who said the ministry was informing the public that the price of Diesel 50 ppm S would decrease by 60 cents per litre while the price of Unleaded Petrol 95 and Illuminating Paraffin will remain unchanged.

According to the statement by Dlamini, the new fuel price will come into effect on midnight of Thursday, which would be December 2, 2022.

“The crude oil prices traded an average of US$93.38 (E1 581.82) in the month of November from an average of US$91.05 (E1 541.35) a barrel realised in the month of October, 2022. The Lilangeni/Dollar exchange rate slightly appreciated and averaged E17.68 in the month of November, 2022 as compared to the E18.04 realised in the month of October, 2022.

“The international demand for diesel dropped in the world markets in the month of November, 2022 and this has led to a low price of diesel internationally. As a result, diesel is carrying an over-recovery/profit hence necessitating the price decrease,” explained the PS.

She went on to say the ministry encouraged the public to use fuel efficiently as the international oil markets and the Lilangeni/Dollar exchange rate remained high.
