MBABANE– South African television and radio host, also a Podcaster DJ SBU has revealed that his surname is actually not Leope.
The DJ took to his social media page on Instagram on Monday and shared to his fans that he is actually a Swati and bears a different surname to what is widely known.
Unwinding in what seems like his garden under grey skies, the controversial media personality shared that his surname is actually Nkosi, not Leope as the industry has come to know him as.
In one of his daily videos, the DJ surprised his followers when he stated that his real surname is Nkosi, not Leope and that he is actually Swati.
In the video, which DJ Sbu has titled five reasons why you should move to South Africa, he tells people his biological surname is Nkosi and not Leope. The surname Leope belongs to a father figure in his life who has since passed away.
“I’m originally Swati as well, according to my biological father uNkosi, can you believe that. May his soul rest in peace and may Ntate Leope rest in peace, who brought me up whom I regard as my father.
“He [Leope] basically brought me up after getting married to my moms. When he met my moms, my moms already had me and he was like ‘no, this is gonna be my boy and I’m gonna bring him up’ and I’ll forever be grateful for the life Ntate Leope gave me.” said the DJ in his now viral video.
In a previous interview on The Penuel Show podcast on YouTube, DJ Sbu got candid on how he used to overspend during his younger days, and what caused him to downgrade to a more affordable lifestyle.
“When it comes to finances, I have and I have got myself to blame and nobody else. From those Porches and just that lifestyle. I have lived the lifestyle, I have travelled, I have driven all these great cars, these sports cars. I have lived the nicest life, the celebrity life,” he said.
Worth noting is that in 2015 the South African businessman and spinner showed remorse to His Majesty King Mswati III by presenting him with three cattle.
He was the brains behind the much talked about energy drink, MoFaya, he presented the cattle to His Majesty.
This was a way of apologising for his involvement in the cultural boycott which resulted in some top South African artists refusing to perform in the country.
The cultural boycott became a volatile subject back in 2011 when a number of artists refused to accept bookings to perform in the kingdom.
Sbu has also been popular in the country for motivating school going children on how the become entrepreneurs.
