MBABANE-Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla has commissioned the building of a house belonging to Gogo Mkhabela.
Gogo Mkhabela has been described as one of the most vulnerable elderly citizens in the country. The DPM commissioned the building of Gogo Mkhabela’s house today at Mayiwane in the Northern Hhohho Region.
She further went to Mvuma on a welfare check of three vulnerable elderly citizens who live in the area. Also in attendance was Minister for Education and Training, Owen Nxumalo. Before going to Msahweni and Mvuma, the DPM had gone to Maphiveni in the Lubombo Region.
Dladla went to Maphiveni to grace the opening of the primary school which was renovated and repurposed into spacious classrooms. Minister Nxumalo also attended the event. The renovation commenced 10 January 2024.
This is not the first time the DPM and Nxumalo went out to the people to find out the problems they had, with an intention of helping them. On Friday last week, the two ministers visited the School for the Deaf in Matsetsa under Lugongolweni Constituency.
During their visit, they were welcomed by the School for the Deaf Head Teacher Nomsa Maseko, who appreciated the work of the Government, regarding the OVC educational grants, as they assisted pupils who could not afford school fees. According to Maseko, four pupils have progressed to tertiary institutions since 2021.
On the same day, Dladla also paid a courtesy visit to the Luke Commission, Sidvokodvo. She also checked on patients have had surgery for varying eye problems and
400 patients were operated on and had their sight restored under the current CARES (Comprehensive and Surgical Eye Services) high-volume surgical session.
Last week Wednesday, Dladla commissioned the building of a house belonging to Gogo Beauty Masuku, who stays at Msuzaneni under Somntongo. Dladla had instructed the National Disaster Management Agency to start constructing the senior citizen’s house on Thursday last week. Dladla said this was important because His Majesty King Mswati III had instructed Government to ensure that it alleviated poverty among Emaswati, particularly the elderly people.
