MBABANE – A man of the people leading from the front.
This best describes what The Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku exemplified when he took some time to attend a schools soccer tournament in South Africa at Camp Discovery, Pretoria.
The Deputy Prime Minister went to the tournament to support teams from Eswatini which included Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA, Usuthu Forest, and Enjabulweni. Both primary and high schools were represented in the categories of under 19, 15 and 13.
According to a statement released by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the aim of the games was to build character, sportsmanship, team building and networking. The games were broadcast on Supersport Kids Channel.
The DPM urged and encouraged Parents to support their children in order to motivate and nurture them.
The DPM’s participation in the games was a signifier that he walks the talk and engages with constituents across all spectrums, as the Gender and Family Issues Department which looks into Family issues in the country is under the The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office Eswatini.
The DPM’s commitment to children’s development was applauded by United Nations Resident Coordinator Nathalie Ndo-Songoh.
“Impressive that you could set aside some of your precious time for our children today, Your Excellency! Very much appreciated, indeed. Your message of support and encouragement formulated in your capacity as a father, a grandfather and an inspiration to many is well-received, Your Excellency! Thank you,” commented Ndo-Songoh.
