MBABANE – The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) announced the 40 scholarships that were availed by LUCT, which would benefit students who were under the orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) grant in high school.
About 40 scholarships are available for underprivileged students who would like to study or are already studying at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT).
The announcement was made by the Director of Social Welfare at the DPMO, Mcusi Shongwe,
“The Limkokwing University has set aside 40 scholarships specifically for OVCs who have applied or were accepted to study at the university,” he said.
Shongwe explained that the scholarship covered tuition only; therefore, beneficiaries would be expected to provide through other means for their own accommodation, meals, living expenses, books, and other living materials.

Deadline for submission of applications is February 3, 2023. The director said due to the limited number of scholarships, admissions would be given at first-come, first-serve.
“Deadline for submission of applications is Friday, 11 am. Due to the limited number of scholarships, admission will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications are to be dropped at the main reception at the Prime Minister’s Office, Gwamile Street, Mbabane,” he said.
Worth noting, for the 2022/2023 academic year, government budgeted only E78 million for tertiary scholarships, for students who would be studying in both local and SADC institutions. The amount enabled government to offer 2 550 scholarships of which 2 500 were for local students and 50 in the SADC region. The Ministry of Labour and Social Security awarded scholarships to 460 students studying at the LUCT out of over 1 000 who had applied.
