DPM UNVEILS THREE NEW HOMES FOR ELDERLY

MBABANE – In a touching display of compassion and community support, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla unveiled three newly-constructed houses for elderly people in Motshane, Ntfonjeni, and Mayiwane Constituencies last Saturday (May 18, 2024).

According to information sourced from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office’s (DPMO) Facebook page, the DPM, alongside representatives from the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), officially revealed three houses for the elderly in the ceremony. These homes, constructed over a period of two months, marked a significant improvement of the elderly people’s living conditions.

The families of the new homes received essential items such as food, blankets, sleeping sponges, and curtains from the DPM, ensuring their immediate needs are met as they settle into their new surroundings.

Gogo Sibongile Dludlu, a resident of Motshane, was overwhelmed with emotions, as she welcomed the DPM to her newly built home. After years of living in a house that is falling apart, Dludlu expressed her gratitude, stating that she had lost hope until the arrival of construction materials.

In Ntfonjeni, Gogo Lomapulete Busisiwe Dlamini’s house, which had been severely damaged by a storm, was relieved to know that her living conditions would be improved. The involvement of Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, represented by Ntombi Matse, ensured that Dlamini could enjoy a safe and comfortable living space once again.

At Mayiwane, 80-year-old Norah Ndzelaphi Malaza was thrilled, as she stepped into her new home, provided by the kindness of her community and Government. Malaza also expressed her gratitude to her neighbours and prayed for long life to enjoy her recently established home.

The unveiling of these homes serves as a testament to the power of community unity and Government involvement in improving the lives of vulnerable citizens. As the elders embrace their new beginnings, the DPM continues stating that the Government’s commitment to supporting those in need and encouraging a caring and fully committed society.
