MBABANE – The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) has urged unemployed individuals who were paid for by the office, under the orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) programme, in vocational education to register with local social workers in their communities.

This was announced by the DPMO Principal Secretary (PS) Melusi Masuku, through a statement on Wednesday.

The registration also includes completed high school leavers who are unable to get scholarships after being admitted to tertiary institutions to further their studies.

According to the DPMO’s Communications Officer, Zanele Dlamini, this initiative by the office is to help the vulnerable children to acquire jobs and continue being paid for in tertiary education, as they have been previously been assisted by Government.

“The purpose of taking this route is to help unite the OVC with relevant service providers. The government cannot pay for all orphans, however we can always get other private sponsors and donors to assist, hence it is important to have the database of the individuals,” Dlamini said.

Dlamini continued to add that the registration deadline has not been set, so all those affected are urged to continue visiting their local social workers.
