EZULWINI- Ezulwini was where Dr Mdumseni Wisdom Dabulizwe Dlamini was titled ‘Scientist of the year 2022’ during a conference where the Kingdom of Eswatini Academy of Science (KEAS) held an event in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).
Dlamini is an environmental and geospatial scientist with research interests and administrative experience in areas as diverse as climate science, land management, environmental management, biodiversity conservation, disaster risk reduction and phytogeography where he extensively applies earth observation (remote sensing) and geospatial data analysis
The conference was based on giving scientists the opportunity to present their research and during this event was when the scientist who did well was awarded.
The academic has worked on a lot of research and some of his work includes research that he did on the COVID-19 hotspots in the country when the pandemic was greatly affecting the world.
During an interview, the ‘Scientist of the Year 2022’ revealed that he was very surprised when awarded this title, but pleased as well.
“This was an inaugural award so it was the first time this was happening. I was very surprised when I received the award, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise and it felt good to know that my work is recognised by my collegues,” said Dlamini.
Efforts to get comment from the KAES community proved to be futile by the time this article was being compiled at 4.20pm.
