MBABANE– Female athletes under Ndzingeni Constituency will this Saturday battle it out over an E10 000 carrot donated by former MP Lutfo Dlamini.

Dlamini was the incumbent MP for Ndzingeni until Tuesday when His Majesty the King dissolved parliament to give way for the upcoming National Elections.

Fresh from hosting a historic Biggest Braai event, as chairman of Philani Maswati Charity Organisation, the Ex MP has donated E10 000 through his Foundation for a one-day knockout volleyball and netball tournament exclusively for women.

The games will be played this Saturday, 15 July.

According to Lutfo Dlamini Foundation, the league will be held at Bhulane Sports Ground at Nkamanzi, which is under Ndzingeni Inkhundla.

It is said the format of the tournament is designed to accommodate teams from all the nine chiefdoms under the constituency. Dlamini has disclosed that Maxwell Jele will be the guest speaker during the handover of the prize.

About five netball teams and seven volleyball teams will compete.

“We are very grateful and excited to finally have this opportunity, as much as this tournament is taking place at Nkamanzi, it is still a dream to have one take place at Ndzingeni. We have forwarded another request to the sponsor in Babe Lutfo Dlamini, and he has approved our request. To us it is exciting news,” said Busisiwe Maseko, who is one of the Organizers.

As a result of Dlamini’s initiative, young girls in Ndzingeni now have access to a structured and supportive sporting environment, where they can flourish and showcase their prowess. This league promises to develop and nurture the latent talent present within the community, putting Ndzingeni on the sports map as a hub for female athletes.
