SIHHOYE – Close to 200 residents here and in the Njakeni area have received early Christmas gifts, thanks to Tzu Chi Foundation.

This foundation is owned by one Mumcy Simelane and has done a commendable job in community charity work that has benefited many families. Sihhoye and Njakeni are under the Madlangempisi constituency where Sibusiso Scorpion Nxumalo is the incumbent Member of Parliament.

This publication has gathered that today (Wednesday) will be an unforgettable date for close to 200 families as they received food hampers from the Tzu Chi foundation. The foundation distributed food parcels in Sihhoye and Njakeni.

“We give thanks to God for this kind gesture from this foundation we were able to outreach about 200 recipients,” thanked MP Nxumalo.

He continued: “However, as inkhundla our main goal is to overcome community water supply challenges because that solves food sustainability issues for our people. Food distribution is purely a temporal measure of intervention to the current hunger problems and inequalities,”

He further requested government to assist the constituency with solar water pumping solutions because the Electricity bill is prohibitive to the communities.

“Our goal is to cover all chiefdoms because we trust that food will be the end result of this initiative,” he said.

Meanwhile, some recipients of the food parcels have expressed their excitement and gratitude to Tzu Chi Foundation.

“The food came at the right time when we stressed by the recent storm that had caused a lot of damages,” said Make Dlamini.

Make Zwane said: “the food parcels will help us feed our families as we approach the festive holidays. Again, as we prepare for school reopening, the food will be of great help,”

On another note, MP Nxumalo disclosed that the constituency has embarked on a project of cleaning their main road reserve through community involvement.

“We have engaged 60 members of the community to clear the road reserve from Madlangempisi to Sihhoye.  We are sending our gratitude to the Ministry of Works especially the Minister who introduced the initiative to partner with inkhundla,” he said.

He said the project was in response to the alarming number of fatal accidents in this corridor as it is regarded as a hotspot for accidents as reflected in the statistics they have.

“..As you remember we lost a number of precious lives recently. We want to thank the community it’s a job well done. In this project we forward our sincere thanks to our stakeholder WFP who contribute the stipend for the community members involved,” the MP said.
