EZULWINI – “Ngete ngasala nasakha live letfu.”
This is the 2023 Elections and Boundaries Campaign slogan which was unveiled by the the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) today at the launch of the official logo for this year’s elections.
Presenting the new logo, EBC Chairperson Prince Mhlabuhlangene Dlamini expressed that the new logo is a natural evolution of the previous insignias of the the EBC. He noted that the new logo includes elements which have been carried over from the previous logos, namely the traditional shield, as the representation of unique identity as represented by the biometric fingerprint.
“We will be expanding on the different meanings of our logo in the coming days,” said Prince Mhlabuhlangene.
In motivating support for the national elections, Prince Mhlabuhlangene took a moment to remind the public that the parliamentary democracy in Eswatini is the same one which exists in the United Kingdom, encouraging Emaswati to participate in the elections to determine their own local governance. He also reminded Emaswati that everyone has a right to participate or abstain from the elections, while emphasising that no one has a legal right to hinder the elections or the free participation of Emaswati in the elections.
The EBC is on a critical year of elections, and is currently in the process of civic voter education to ensure that the public is appropriately informed about the upcoming national elections. According to the elections Project Advisor, the voter education excerise will end by April.
