As nomination dates are getting closer, it has been revealed that  16 084 persons living with disabilities in Eswatini have registered to vote.

This figure was revealed by Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe on Monday.

In total, 355 645 had registered to vote by yesterday.

Election registration centres are available at St Josephs to be accessed by the disabled.

“We have seen a huge interest from the people living with disabilities, a huge number of them have been part of the many registrants interested in voting,” said Bhembe.

He further said as the hour to close the registration of voters draws nearer, the interest of emaSwati to stand up to be counted in the 2023 General Election is heightened. A huge number of registrants have been witnessed eight days before closing on June 14, 2023.

Bhembe further explained that the registration process also took part inside the prisons whereby the officers and inmates inside were able to join in the process.

With eight more days left for the process to conclude, EBC stated that 355 641 emaSwati being 181 122 females and 158 121 males have registered. The average of registrations per day is concluded to be 12 573 according to the EBC.
