…Target for now is 400 000

MBABANE– Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe has notified the public that they are looking for over 400 000 registrations.
This he said earlier today during an interview with Eswatini Television, Kusile Breakfast show team. He mentioned that in 2018 there were over 500 000 registration and they were looking for more this year.
“The target for now is 400 000, we hope by the time registration is done we have reached the numbers we intend on reaching,” Said Bhembe.
In addition he further said, over 20 000 people registered for the 2023 National Elections yesterday.
Figures that were issued by EBC showed that the overall number of people who have registered for the elections since May 10 increased to 249 844, from 225 942 on Sunday.
“In terms of regions, the Manzini Region yesterday was leading with 71 011 registrants, followed by the Hhohho Region with 70 760. Lubombo and Shiselweni Regions had 57 223 and 50 850 registrants, respectively,” he said. He further mentioned that, the number of women who have registered was still higher than males. By the close of registration yesterday, 132 856 women had registered while there were 116 988 males.
