MBABANE– EmaSwati will get a chance to mingle with their favourite EBIS broadcasters.
The Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Service (EBIS) will celebrate World Radio Day by engaging with the people of Mpaka today.
According to Digital Media Corporation, the World Radio Day is celebrated on February 13 as a means of communication and expression. The theme for the 12th edition of World Radio Day is “Radio and Peace”.
In 2011, UNESCO proclaimed to observe World Radio Day every year to celebrate the popular medium. During its 67th Session, the UN General Assembly endorsed the resolution adopted during the 36th session of the UNESCO General Conference, proclaiming 13 February, the day United Nations Radio was established in 1946, as World Radio Day.
EBIS Director Sabelo Dlamini confirmed that the EBIS team and broadcasters will be on a roadshow in Mpaka to celebrate World Radio Day.
“To celebrate this day, we will go out to the community- which is something we barely do. “We will be engaging with the people of Mpaka and this will be broadcasted today for about an hour,” said Dlamini briefly.
