MBABANE – The Eswatini environmental Authority (EEA) and the Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund (YERF) yesterday paid a visit to Sithobelweni Inkhundla to engage the youth about the environmental sustainability and access to finance to develop sustainable livelihood.
According to information sourced from their EEA’s Facebook page, the purpose of this visit was to focus on the capacity of the young people as change makers with so many environmental problems in the community. Also, this was done because they had the power to solve the challenges and also create sustainable livelihood in the process.
They also addressed the issue of the importance of health and safety when handling hazardous chemicals, the use of protective clothing, safe storage and the need to keep the working area and communities clean.
YERF’s Mduduzi Msibi was part of the delegates and he explained to the youth the purpose of the YERF, which is commonly known as the youth fund. Msibi said the purpose of the fund was to help the youth establish their own businesses and create employment opportunities.
Msibi further explained how the fund could be accessed, stressing on the eligibility and the type of businesses they funded. He further explained the type of money products they offered for co-operatives, new businesses, and established businesses. The EEA aimed to equip the youth of Sithobelweni on how they could start their own businesses, with the help of the YERF, which would assist them with funding.
