MBABANE – Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) has donated E930 000 to three organisations to help Emaswati in rural areas to live better lives.
The donation took place today at Luvatsini House (EEC Headquarters) in Mbabane. The organisations that got the donations include World Vision (which got E510 000), Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society (which got E270 000), and Bhalekane Nazarene Primary School (which got E150 000).
EEC Managing Director (MD) Ernest Mkhonta said the donations were part of their corporate social investment (CSI) initiative, which was meant for people, especially at rural areas, to benefit from this gesture. He said as much as their job was to avail electricity in the country, they also had a responsibility to give back to the communities.
Speaking on behalf of the recepients, World Vision CEO Sakhile Dlamini said they were grateful to EEC for the kind gesture. She said in their everyday work, they encountered people who were in need for their lives to be better. She said they had no doubt that what EEC had done was going to go a long way in making their work a lot better and improve the lives of Emaswati who were in need.
