SOCCER – The persistent rains in the country has forced the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) to provide an exclusive extension of the 2022/23 second window registration period.
The registration window was expected to slam shut last Friday but has been extended to this Friday because of the force majeure circumstance. This will give clubs the opportunity to finish-off deals and add to their respective squads as we enter the last mile of the campaign.
“This exclusive arrangement was due to the reported challenges of traveling experienced countrywide, as a result of the torrential rainstorms, that at varying instances damaged and inhibited the passage channels, thus affecting the execution of registration process by various clubs for their players. This extension is only applicable to domestic transfers and registration of players, under the jurisdiction of the EFA,” the football mother-body said in a statement.
However, the international transfer of players remains closed as of Friday, 10th February 2023.
“All football clubs in the membership of EFA, affected by this environmental interruption, are therefore expected to have concluded their registration business by the new stipulated deadline (17th February 2023), irrespective of any inclement weather that may become incidental or the persistence of the rain, in which instance they must find alternative remedies to finalize their registration business within the new period,” the statement read in ending.
