MBABANE- Live in Geneva!
The eight emaSwati pupils who will be representing the country at a robotics fair in Geneva, Switzerland have arrived safely.
This is according to a post by one of the coordinators, who has been supporting and promoting the trip.
The name of the coordinator cannot be mentioned because she could not be reached for comment by the time this article was compiled at 4.25pm today.
Pictures of the eight youth in Geneva, who are under supervision of two caretakers, were posted on different social media platforms.
The teenagers will be attending the first 2022 Carbon Capture Challenge for the robotics challenge in the European country.
Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots.
The teenagers are Sinowethu Fakudze (17), Sinowethu Fakudze (15), Destiny Moodley (15), Mnotfo Madolo (15), Tinashe Sifundza (16), Ayandziswa Gama (15), Tengetile Sibeko (16) and Siviwe Dlamini (15).
The pupils are from St Marks High School, Ngomane High School, U-Tech High School and Salesian High School.
Facilitating their trip is Eswatini STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), a science education programme by Peace Corps, which is still in its infancy stage. The teenagers that will be leaving for Geneva won the STEM competition which started in March this year.
Effort to get comment from Mandla Sithole, the Eswatini STEM Coordinator, proved to be futile.
However, in a previous interview with Sithole, he said he was happy that the eight pupils made the cut, saying this was one of the many projects to come.
